Understanding the ins and outs of academic writing
No matter how groundbreaking your research topic is, how thorough your methods and how insightful your findings, if you don’t know how to capture it professionally and correctly in a research report, the value will be lost. But it’s easier said than done. Academic writing is a specialised skill that follows specific rules. That’s why we invite representatives from the Stellenbosch University Writing Lab to the summer school each year to help equip students with academic writing skills.

Overcoming HIV/Aids requires a multidisciplinary approach
One of the stand-out features of our postgraduate diploma that makes it one of the most comprehensive and practical courses of its kind is that it looks at the HIV/Aids epidemic through a multidisciplinary lens. This has the added benefit that the knowledge that students gain can also be applied to other epidemics and pandemics.

As a continuation of the theme of World Aids Day in 2023 – “Let communities lead” – the focus of this year’s summer school was on the role of effective community engagement in the fight against HIV/Aids.
