Dr Munya Saruchera, director and senior lecturer

Munya joined the Africa Centre team as a senior lecturer in December 2020 and became interim director in the following year. As director, Munya is responsible for managing the centre, including overseeing marketing, planning and reporting, coordinating curriculum development, student assessments and moderation, and securing funding, to name a few. His role as team leader includes providing strategic leadership and supervising all internal and external staff. As part of his role as lecturer, Munya also supervises master’s and PhD students. In fact, working with students and teaching are some of the things he finds most satisfying about his role at the centre. When Munya is not leading the Africa Centre team to new heights, he loves to spend time with family and in his community, do gardening, and go on long road trips. He is originally from the eastern highlands of Zimbabwe.
