Originally from Namibia, Dr O’Brian Anthony Davids has a diverse background, including being a national child TV presenter and a pilot, before graduating with a medical degree from the University of Pretoria. He also holds various certifications in emergency medicine from the American Heart Association as well as in gender-based and intimate partner violence from the United Nations Population Fund. O’Brian is passionate about ending the HIV-poverty-mortality cycle by combining technology, arts, medicine and innovation in rural areas. After completing the Postgraduate Diploma in HIV/Aids Management at the Africa Centre in 2020, he was appointed at the #BeFree Youth Centre Clinic to lead the HIV/Aids, medical and education side of the clinic, which falls under One Economy Foundation, founded by Namibia’s former first lady, Monica Geingos. O’Brian is also involved in developing a remote HIV monitoring smartphone app in collaboration with Clinitouch, a UK-based digital health company.

“I am excited about being able to provide valuable input in meeting the goals of the United Nations’ goals in terms of HIV targets while helping to put the Africa Centre and their commitment to ending HIV in Africa at the forefront.”
