AI tools like ChatGPT have led to heated debates about their pros and opportunities versus their limitations and pitfalls. Whatever your view, the fact is that these tools are here to stay. But how do you make use of them in an ethical way when it comes to research and academic writing?

Dr Kudzayi Tarisayi from the Department of Curriculum Studies demonstrated ChatGPT’s capabilities and how to use them at our MPhil workshop this morning, including:

• The importance of providing clear and concise prompts to get accurate, relevant responses.
• Treating ChatGPT as a tool rather than an authority – it’s still up to the user to interpret and evaluate the information generated.
• Guidelines for using ChatGPT ethically and responsibly.
