Decolonising global health

The theme of inequality and its role in hampering progress with ending the HIV/Aids pandemic continues to surface at our MPhil workshop this week, emphasising how critical it is to address this issue.
Speaking on “Decolonising global health” today, Dr Catherine Kyobutungi from the Africa Population and Health Research Center in Kenya will demonstrate how the global health architecture inherently does not support equality. She’ll also touch on how we can change this going forward, and how each of us can play our part.
One of our external lecturers, Dr Salimah Valiani, will be the respondent in this session. She specialises in international labour migration and global inequality issues and has done compelling work on the Africa Care Economy Index and the political economy of health.
