One of the stand-out features of our postgraduate diploma that makes it one of the most comprehensive and practical courses of its kind is that it looks at the HIV/Aids epidemic through a multidisciplinary lens. This has the added benefit that the knowledge that students gain can also be applied to other epidemics and pandemics.

THE 2023 THEME for World Aids Day – “Let communities lead” – emphasised the critical role that communities play in making progress towards overcoming Aids. This acknowledgement of the strategic position of communities to connect people, build trust, facilitate change and enforce accountability was also the theme of the recent annual summer school for the flagship programme of the Africa Centre for HIV/Aids Management at the university.

MPhil graduation 2023: Meet the new HIV/Aids management advocates
THIS YEAR five of the Africa Centre’s students graduated with an MPhil in HIV/Aids Management. In line with global trends in concentrating on key and vulnerable populations in the fight against HIV/Aids, the research topics of all the graduates focused on the youth or young women.

On 28 and 29 November, the Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) and Theology jointly hosted a consultative workshop about the role of faith-based organisations (FBOs) in health management.
