Dr Mzingaye Xaba, research fellow

Growing up in a rural community that was far more dependent on the environment than on purchasing goods to sustain them, Mzi has an acute understanding of the link between human health and the environment, which underpins his key research interest: the intersection of health and climate change. Mzi has authored or co-authored multiple book chapters and journal articles and has presented his work at over 20 conferences since 2015. At the Africa Centre, Mzi’s primary focus is the sociology of health, specifically the intersection between climate change, health and indigenous knowledge systems and the Afro-cosmo vision of health. His dream is to assist rural communities to build a sustainable way for harvesting and collecting water, reducing the problems associated with rural to urban migration.
