“Despite the ICASA 2021 conference going fully virtual after initially planned as a face-to-face event in Durban in South Africa, it was a good opportunity to again focus the world’s attention on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and as the conference reflected, the fact that vital resources are still very much needed to sustain successful HIV-related efforts made over the years as well as help lower rising infection rates, especially among key populations”, says Dr Munya Saruchera, from the Africa Centre for HIV/AIDS Management.
